Battery Extender

Today’s feature rich phones offer endless opportunities for the user, from inbuilt GPS systems to social networking sites. The price: comparatively poor battery life! While the manufacturers of those devices are still figuring out the best way to counteract this problem, while adding ever more features, Ravensoft in Manchester has developed a simple solution to help smartphone users extend battery life. With the Nokia S60 smartphone series, Battery Extender achieves up to 30% longer battery life, which in most cases will mean an additional day without charging.

Based on significant in-house research and development programmes and Ravensoft’s in depth knowledge of the Symbian Operation System the team was able to develop an application that manages less critical, power-draining features according to changes in the battery level.

Several predefined profiles, which can be customised for individual needs, specify the features that will be turned off once the battery drops below a certain level. GPS, Bluetooth, Backlight timeout and brightness and individually selectable applications are amongst the features that can be managed using Battery Extender. By means of their software development expertise, Ravensoft were able to design the application so efficiently that Battery Extender itself uses only negligible amounts of energy, despite running in the background, allowing all power savings to contribute towards an extended battery life.

Substantial powers savings have been scientifically proven, and since been confirmed by users. Here at Ravensoft we are particularly proud of this application as we feel it enhances the smartphone experiences for many users and provides a solution for one of the most common complaints about smartphones.

We are currently working on a version for Windows Mobile, to allow even more users to benefit from this innovative technology.
